The second mouse, wouldn’t quit. He struglled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentleman, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.” –Catch Me If You Can, 2012. [/perfectpullquote]
It’s easy to say to yourself, “I’m going to make this change” but then let yourself off the hook when things get tough or you get busy or stressed.
Whatever you want to do, first throw your excuses away. That song is for whiners: I’m too old, now I’m too busy, you name it. Shut your mind up!
Put the activity on the calendar and make it an unmissable appointment.
Need reminders? Cool. Put stickers everywhere, turn alarms on to remind your activity. Make your mother call you! Whatever.
What happens if you fail?
First, be nice to you. Listen, don’t beat yourself up! Ever.
Second, understand why you’ve missed that thing you were supposed to do. Perfectionism? Lack of faith? Try to understand.
Third, adjust your appointment.
Fourth, go for it!
The day you do it, reward yourself. You deserve it.
